Obtaining a driver’s license is a significant step towards independence and mobility. In Phoenix, Arizona, Legacy Driving Academy offers comprehensive and affordable driving instructions to help you navigate the licensing process smoothly. In this blog, we’ll cover the basic steps of getting your Arizona driver’s license, the DMV permit test, and what you need to know before you head to the DMV.

Getting a Learner’s Permit in Arizona

Before hitting the road, aspiring drivers must first acquire a learner’s permit. In Arizona, this involves passing the DMV permit test (the DMV is called the MVD in Arizona) which tests your knowledge of road signs, traffic laws, and safe driving practices. Preparation for this test can begin online, with many resources available to help you study. Please keep in mind that you’ll need to have a valid Arizona Instruction Learner’s Permit prior to starting our program. Once you’ve obtained your permit, you’re ready to choose from any of our three courses.

Legacy Driving Academy provides three tailored driving instruction packages to suit different needs and budgets:

Overview of Legacy Driving Academy’s Courses

  • Legacy Premier (10-Hour Program): This course consists of four 2.5 hour lessons, covering comprehensive driving lessons and a road skills evaluation. Successful students may receive a certificate that waives the MVD road test and potentially offers auto insurance savings.
  • Legacy Special (5-Hour Program): Including two 2.5 hour lessons, this program prepares students for the MVD road test and provides an insurance certificate that may reduce auto insurance costs. It includes free student pickup and drop-off.
  • Legacy Basic (2.5 Hour Program): Recommended for experienced drivers, this single-lesson program focuses on additional practice to prepare for the MVD road test.

To successfully complete any of our programs, you’ll be required to take a final road skills evaluation. This evaluation includes parallel parking, three-point-turning, and a state-approved final evaluation driving route.

Dealing with the MVD in Phoenix

The final step in obtaining your driver’s license is passing the road test at the Phoenix MVD. Legacy Driving Academy prepares its students for this challenge with mock tests and detailed feedback. Scheduling your test can typically be done online, and Legacy’s instructors will provide all the necessary tips to navigate the MVD efficiently, including how to find and take the learner’s permit test online with parental supervision.
