Q: Do I need to have my permit?

A: Yes, you need to have a valid Arizona Instruction Learner’s Permit prior to starting our program. The student must bring their permit with them on each driving lesson. You can visit the our Resources page to learn more information on how to obtain a Learner’s Permit. 

If the student is under the age of 18, they must hold their permit for 6 months or until they turn 18 before they are eligible to obtain their Arizona Driver’s License. 

Q: Do I have to come to your office for lessons?

A: No, we come to you. We offer free pick up and drop off from home, school or work in the Phoenix Metropolitan area.  

Q: What kind of car will I be driving?

A: All Behind-the-Wheel training is done in a Legacy Driving Academy car that is equipped with a dual brake system and rear view mirror on the instructor’s side including wide angle mirrors. 

Q: How can I schedule my Behind-the-Wheel Lessons?

A: You must first complete a Registration Form. Once you submit the form it will direct you to book your first lesson. Payment is required to book the lesson and someone will contact you to schedule any remaining lessons if needed.

Q: Do you have a payment plan?

A: No, we do not have a payment plan, however,  we do offer individual lessons which can be upgraded to the next program tier.

Q: What forms of payment methods are accepted?

A: We accept all major credit cards; which include Visa, Mastercard, Discover Card and American Express. We do not accept checks or cash.

Q: What discounts do you offer?

A: We offer discounts for siblings, Military and First Responders. Please call us for discounts.

Q: What is required during the final Road Skills Evaluation?

A: The final road skills evaluation includes parallel parking, three-point-turning and a state approved final evaluation driving route. 

Q: Will there be other students in the car while I am on my lesson?

A: No, all lessons are one-on-one with the instructor and the student only. 

Q: Are the training vehicles fully insured and licensed?

A: We are fully insured and licensed per the requirement of the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Q: Who can ride a long in the car during the lesson?

A: All lessons are one-on-one with the student, however, parents, guardians or language translators may join the lesson as long as they are not disruptive during the lesson.

Q: How can I take the Road Test at the MVD office?

A: The MVD does not provide a vehicle for the Road Test. Road Tests are by appointment only. You can schedule a Road Test at the MVD website

Q: What happens if I am late for my driving lesson?

A: Please contact our office if you will be late for your lesson. The time of the lesson will still end at the assigned time and the time missed is unable to be made up. 

Q: Do you have a rescheduling policy?

A: Yes. All lessons must be rescheduled with a minimum of a 48 hour notice. If 48 hours notice is not given on any scheduled appointments a $75 rescheduling fee will be required.

Q: What if there is a storm on the day or during my lesson?

A: Due to unsafe road conditions during heavy rainstorms or dust storms, Legacy Driving Academy reserves the right to cancel and reschedule the lesson to the next available time that fits your schedule. If a storm breaks during a lesson, the instructor will make a reasonable judgment to continue or reschedule the lesson. Our priority is to keep our students safe.

Q: Can I use the Legacy Driving School car for my Road Skills Evaluation?

A: Yes, the Legacy Premier program includes the final evaluation using the Legacy Driving Academy car.

Q: Can I use the Legacy Driving School car for Road Test at the MVD?

A: No, we are unable to provide the service due to insurance purposes.
